Stonington police identify person killed in wood chipper acciden

Stonington — Police have identified the person who was discovered in a wood chipper on the Ogden Farm property Thursday afternoon as 72-year-old Nicholas M. Reardon of 54 Harborview Terrace. Police said Reardon, owner of Landscape Unlimited, also in town, was partially pulled into the wood chipper. He was discovered about 2:55 p.m. on the South Anguilla Road property. Stonington Police Capt. Todd Olson said Reardon's death appears to be an accident. He said Reardon was working alone at the time of the incident.

PD: Man dies after accident involving wood chipper in Stonington

STONINGTON, CT (WFSB) -A man was fatally injured on Thursday afternoon in what appears to be an accident involving a woodchipper in Pawcatuck section of Stonington. Emergency dispatch received a 911 call about a severe injury involving a woodchipper on private property off South Anguila Road around 3 p.m. Upon arrival, authorities located a man's body. Police said the unidentified man was "partially pulled into a wood chipper," police said. Neighbors told Eyewitness News that the machine was running all day long. Investigators do not have positive identity of the victim, a known commercial tree service technician. First responders said they are working on notifying the victim's family. "Upon arrival, we did discover the individual was deceased. We are investigating,” Stonington Police Capt. Todd Olson said. Olson said it appears "he could have been alone." Neighbors said they are a closely knit neighborhood.  "This is scary and it's concerning as to who it really is because they are our neighbors," Kendra Becker-Musante, of Stonington, said.  The incident is under investigation by the Stonington Police Department along with medical examiner's office.  Read more: http://www.wfsb.com/story/30218934/body-discovered-in-wood-chipper-in-stonington#ixzz3oHrJghsU
