State police have identified the woman hit and killed Monday night in the 100 block of N. DuPont Highway (U.S. 13) near New Castle.
State police have identified the woman hit and killed Monday night in the 100 block of N. DuPont Highway (U.S. 13) near New Castle.
Kimberly Cag, 38, of Delaware City, was attempting to cross the northbound lanes of North DuPont Highway (U.S.13) from the center median, not within a designated or marked crosswalk. She entered the left lane, directly into the path of a 2002 Mercedes-Benz M50 SUV driven by Christina Bentil, 50, of Bear, Sgt. Paul G. Shavack said.
Kimberly Cage suffered multiple traumatic injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Bentil was properly restrained and not injured, Shavack said.
The crash was reported at 9:39 p.m. and North DuPont Highway northbound was initially was closed and then was restricted to one lane of travel for approximately two hours while the crash was investigated and cleared, Shavack said.
Troopers continue to investigate this crash and no charges have been filed.
