Authorities identify 70-year-old Crescent City man killed Monday in head-on crash

A 70-year-old man who died in a head-on crash Monday in Putnam County has been identified by the Florida Highway Patrol. Chalmer Stevens of Crescent City was eastbound on County Road 308 Monday about 8:50 p.m. in a Dodge Dakota when he crossed into the westbound lanes and struck the front of a Chrysler PT Cruiser, according to the Highway Patrol. He was pronounced dead at a hospital. Rebecca Bickel, 44, of Crescent City was driving the PT Cruiser and was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, according to the FHP.
