2 bodies recovered after plane crashes into St. Marys River on Friday

Witnesses called 911 mid-morning to report a small aircraft that appeared to be in trouble and going into the St. Marys River, Bruce said. The fixed-wing aircraft crashed into a marshy area of the river.

Officials: Student pilot, instructor killed in plane crash near Georgia-Florida line

The Florida Highway Patrol confirmed that the victims were an 18-year-old female student and a 66-year-old male flying instructor. The plane had departed from the nearby Fernandina Beach Municipal Airport in Florida.
