The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a bus crash on the Westside, after a school bus rear-ended an SUV Wednesday morning. According to a FHP report, the school bus was traveling eastbound on 103rd Street at Old Middleburg Road, when the traffic in front of the bus stopped. The bus failed to stop and rear-ended a GMC Envoy. The crash happened at 8:15 a.m. and there were no students on the bus at the time, according to FHP. A spokesperson with Duval County Public Schools said the bus was assigned to Jefferson Davis Middle School and no injuries were reported. The bus driver, 40-year-old Julieta Santana, is being charged with careless driving. This bus crash comes about two hours after a bus was rear-ended on its way to Robert E. Lee High School. That crash also happened on the Westside and is being investigated as a hit-and-run after a Jeep Wrangler hit the bus and fled the scene. No injuries were reported in that crash.
