A Tri-Rail train was knocked off its tracks after it collided with a tractor trailer in Pompano Beach Friday afternoon.
The train sustaining heavy damage to its front car in the crash which happened at about 4:10 p.m. at the a Atlantic Boulevard crossing, Tri-Rail spokeswoman said.
Pompano Beach Fire Rescue responded after getting a call a minute later, a Pompano Beach city spokeswoman said in an email.
Drivers should avoid the area of Atlantic Boulevard and Andrews Avenue for several hours while the truck's load is cleaned up and the crash site is cleared, the Broward Sheriff's Office said.
All westbound lanes of Atlantic Boulevard are closed, and just one eastbound lane is open, the BSO said.
Arnold said train service would certainly be affected beyond the train that was involved in the accident. Passengers should seek an alternate route Friday night, she said.
