Ambulance carrying patient overturns on Turnpike, FHP says

The driver of the vehicle with the mattress was charged with dropping a load from a vehicle.

An ambulance, carrying a 5-year-old patient and his father, overturned on Florida's Turnpike Wednesday afternoon, just before 3 p.m. The ambulance was traveling southbound on the Turnpike near State Road 528 when a mattress came loose from a vehicle and the ambulance ran over it before losing traction and overturning on its driver side. No other vehicles were involved in the crash. The ambulance was from American Ambulance company. The 5-year-old was taken to Arnold Palmer Hospital with minor injuries.
