Hit and run kills one, injures two
TPD’s Traffic Homicide Unit has assumed the investigation and has determined the accident occurred after a red Chevrolet, which was travelling West on Tennessee Street, ran the red light at the intersection of Appleyard Drive. The red Chevrolet struck a silver Honda, which was travelling South on Appleyard Drive, forcing it into a maroon Toyota," the TPD report states.
17-year-old killed in hit and run crash
The release names the driver of the red Chevrolet, who earlier fled the scene on foot, as 23-year-old Deontae Johnson. No information about the passenger in Johnson's vehicle has been released because of the ongoing investigation.
Tallahassee Police Traffic Homicide Investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash, but did not speak with an officer on scene or anyone with information about the accident to please call (850) 891-4200 and ask to speak with the Traffic Homicide Unit. They may also remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at (850) 574-TIPS.
