Michael Liebam, 23, and Deion Folk, 24, killed in two-motorcycle collision on Berkley Road in Auburndale, FL
Winter Haven man killed in crash involving two motorcycles
Berkley Road was shut down for about four hours after the crash.
At about 9:45 p.m., 23-year-old Michael Liebam was riding a motorcycle north on Berkley Road, and was allegedly speeding when he rear-ended another northbound motorcycle driven by William Scott, 30. Liebam, Scott, and Scott's passenger Deion Folk, 24, were all thrown from the vehicles and taken to the hospital. Though he was wearing a helmet, Liebam eventually succumbed to his injuries, while Deion remains in critical condition, and Scott was already released from the hospital. Neither Deion nor Scott were wearing helmets.
Since motorcycle crashes often end in serious injuries, victims need immediate help
Motorcycle accidents are more likely to end in serious injuries or death for the motorcyclist, since the rider is not protected from the force of a collision. When a motorcycle accident happens, the injured rider needs immediate, appropriate medical care, the accident needs to be investigated, and the insurance companies need to be informed.
When a motorcycle crash is caused by negligence, additional steps need to be taken to protect the legal rights of the injured motorcyclist or the family members of someone killed in a motorcycle crash. Go here to learn more about motorcycle accidents and claims.
