Bradenton motorcycle rider killed after running red light

According to a Florida Highway Patrol report Casey was traveling north on his 2006 Suzuki motorcycle when he failed to stop for a red light. The bike struck the right rear end of a 2012 Toyota RAV 4 driven by a 70-year-old Bradenton woman.

A 31-year-old Bradenton man died Saturday afternoon from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash near the intersection of 75th St. West and 29th Ave. West.

Brian Casey was pronounced dead at the scene just before 6 p.m.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol report Casey was traveling north on his 2006 Suzuki motorcycle when he failed to stop for a red light. The bike struck the right rear end of a 2012 Toyota RAV 4 driven by a 70-year-old Bradenton woman.

Investigators say Casey was traveling at a high rate of speed at the time of impact. It is not yet known if alcohol played a factor and the deceased was wearing a helmet.

The other driver was not injured.

The Toyota rotated clockwise and traveled approximately 30 feet after being hit by the motorcycle.

No charges have been filed as the investigation continues.
