Woman, 69, killed in Lake Hamilton crash

A 69-year-old woman was killed early Monday in a single-vehicle crash in Lake Hamilton. Authorities said Worth was on US 27 just south of Crump Road in Lake Hamilton when the vehicle drifted off the road to the right. According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, Perry Cope Worth was driving southbound on US 27 in a GMC Yukon SUV at 4:25 a.m. when the crash happened. Deputies said Perry's seat belt was found buckled and tight against the seat, indicating Perry had been sitting on the belt and not using it. According to the sheriff's office, speed may have been a factor in this crash.
