One person killed, after his motorcycle collides with a truck, driven by Robert Smith, 47, at the intersection of Belcher Road and 118th Avenue in Pinellas Park.

A deadly crash between a lawn truck and a motorcycle shut down Belcher Road on Wednesday night.

Pinellas Park police officers say around 8:19 p.m., a motorcycle was going south on Belcher approaching 118th Avenue. A commercial lawn truck towing a large white trailer was going northbound on Belcher.

Witnesses say the truck had just made a westbound turn, when the light turned red. According to witnesses, the motorcycle ran the red light, resulting in the crash.

The motorcycle rider was pronounced dead at the scene.

The truck driver is identified as Robert Smith, 47, of Seminole. The motorcycle rider’s name has not been released.

Belcher Road was closed north and southbound in the aftermath of the crash.
