Police originally called the crash was a hit-and-run, but later said Gonzalez-Conde stopped a short distance after turning south onto 49th Street.
Diane Buchanan was hit by a minivan in St. Petersburg Friday morning and has died from her injuries. The accident happened just before 7 a.m. Friday. She was in a crosswalk on 29th Street North near 49th Street when she was hit by a van whose driver, Maikely Gonzalez-Conde, didn't see her. Buchanan hit the windshield of the van and fell to the ground.
