A driver ran a red light at Columbus Drive and Nebraska Avenue intersection in Tampa and hit a school security officer's car, Tampa Police officers said. The driver didn't stop after the crash.
A driver ran a red light at Columbus Drive and Nebraska Avenue intersection in Tampa and hit a school security officer's car, Tampa Police officers said. The driver didn't stop after the crash.
School Security Officer Alejandro Claudio, 41, was going south on Nebraska Avenue when he was hit on the passenger's side by the suspect's 2003 silver Infinity SUV at the intersection with East Columbus Drive. The Infinity ran the red light and kept going after the hit.
The security officer suffered minor injuries and was taken to Tampa General Hospital for observation.
TPD officers were in the area and saw the SUV speeding away. They caught up with it near the railroad tracks on East Columbus.
TPD established a perimeter using air and K-9 support and quickly arrested the hit-and-run suspect.
