Tonya, who was seriously injured in the crash, addressed the media at the service from her gurney. She was accompanied by the Gimbel's 17-year-old daughter, Sarah. A GoFundMe account has been set up to support Sarah through college at the University of South Florida.
TPD off-duty cop dies in motorcycle crash
Allen was driving southbound on Clement Pride Blvd. She stopped at the intersection of Big Bend Road waiting for traffic to clear. As she entered the intersection, she didn't see Officer Gimbel on his motorcycle traveling east on Big Bend Road at about 45 MPH. The front of Allen's SUV struck the motorcycle, forcing the bike off the roadway to the south. Both Officer Gimbel and his wife Tonya were ejected from the motorcycle after it struck a safety sign.
