Accident on I-75 in Henry County causes major backup.

All southbound lanes of Interstate 75 in Henry County were closed for several hours Wednesday after a box truck and another vehicle collided.

All southbound lanes of Interstate 75 in Henry County were closed for several hours Wednesday after a box truck and another vehicle collided.

The accident happened around 11 a.m., just north of the Jonesboro Road exit.

Authorities said the commercial box truck was traveling south in the far right lane and a Dodge Magnum was traveling in the far left lane.

The box truck made an improper turn into the Dodge Magnum, causing a collision. Both vehicles then traveled through the guard rail.

The box truck struck the post supporting the overhead DOT signs causing damage.

The driver of the box truck suffered serious injuries. The driver of the Dodge Magnum suffered non-life threatening injuries.
