A person has died after being hit by a vehicle outside a restaurant in southwest Atlanta.

The Fulton County Police Department says Jerrell Acklen was behind the wheel of the vehicle that struck a 77-year-old woman. Police say Acklen was backing up when he hit the woman. She died at the scene.

The driver, identified as Jerrell Acklin, “did stay on scene,” McBride said. “He did not try to run. But he is being charged with homicide by vehicle.”
