Lithonia police officer dies in crash

A Lithonia Police officer died in a wreck in Dekalb County Saturday night. He had been with Dekalb County police for seven years before taking the job with Lithonia PD. Authorities tell Fox5 an off-duty officer was riding his personal motorcycle when he collided with a car with a young family inside.

A couple and their infant were riding in the car that officer ran into. A fatal crash in Lithonia has killed a former DeKalb County police officer and an infant. Dent had just moved to the Lithonia Police Department after spending six years as a member of the DeKalb County Police Department. DeKalb County police are investigating the cause of the crash. Off-duty police officer Jamell Dent was riding his motorcycle around 10:45 p.m.
