Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen said 19-year-old Sujada Lazana Truitt of Martinez was struck as she walked down Old Savannah Road around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday.
AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) — Authorities in east Georgia are investigating the death of a pedestrian, who was struck by a vehicle as she walked on a Richmond County road.
Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen said 19-year-old Sujada Lazana Truitt of Martinez was struck as she walked down Old Savannah Road around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Bowen said she was wearing dark clothing and walking near the double-yellow line in the area of the center of the road.
Authorities said the vehicle driver remained at the scene after the crash.
The Augusta Chronicle reports (http://chronicle.augusta.com/latest-news/2014-06-17/alcohol-not-factor-death-pedestrian-richmond-county?v=1403032642) that the death was the fifth pedestrian fatality in Richmond County this year.
