He said the vehicle the men were traveling in ran out of gas and the driver pulled off to the side of the road to fill it with gas.

Heath ran out of gas and pulled off onto the access road from JR Allen onto I-185 northbound. He then called Pop-A-Lock and Jensen, the employee, responded.

Darion Mitchell, 30, is charged in the deaths of Lee Edward Heath of Phenix City and Anthony Jensen of Columbus in the 5:08 a.m. crash while the pedestrians were putting gas in a pickup truck.

During Recorder’s Court, it was revealed that Mitchell provided police with his brother’s driver’s license and identified himself as his brother. Authorities found who he was after he was fingerprinted by police officers.
