Columbus State cheerleader dies after Monroe County car accident

"The entire program mourns the loss of a member of our athletics family,” said CSU Director of Athletics Todd Reeser. “Ethan was a member of the CSU cheerleading team only a short time, but his impact was immediate and huge.  He will be greatly missed by his CSU teammates, coaches and staff. Our family is hurting, but we will put our energies into supporting and lifting up all who grieve for Ethan.”
19-year old Ethan Rutledge from Loganville died Sunday when the vehicle he was driving exited the road on Highway 81 in Monroe County. The funeral is arranged for Saturday in Loganville. In memory of Ethan, Columbus State athletics would like all fans to wear red for Wednesday night's men's basketball game against Coastal Georgia. There will be a moment of silence prior to the 6:30 p.m. tipoff. Check back for more information as it becomes available.
