Alma boy killed in crash of utility vehicle he was driving, state patrol says(link is external)

An Alma, Ga., boy died Friday night when the utility vehicle he was driving crashed on a rural road south of Blackshear, the Georgia State Patrol said. Rewis was taken by air to UF Health Jacksonville for treatment but did not survive, the state patrol said. Matthew DeWayne Rewis, 14, was driving a Polaris Ranger on Clark Road about 7 p.m. when the utility vehicle flipped in a curve and vaulted 13 feet, the state patrol said. Two 15-year-old passengers, Jackson Ridge Lee of Nicholls, Ga., and Hunter Jared Trowell of Alma were not injured, the state patrol said. The accident report did not say how many seats the Ranger had, but the investigating trooper noted, “all seat belts were buckled behind the occupants” a the time of the crash.
