Witnesses and occupants of the eastbound Toyota Corolla that struck Arnold told officers the man walked into the roadway, Rodewalt said. In that area, U.S. 80 is not well lit, he said.

A Bryan County man identified as David Dwayne Arnold, 49, of Ellabell, was killed Friday morning after he was hit by a car as he walked on U.S. 80 in Pooler, Georgia. He was declared deceased at Memorial University Medical Center after being hit by a sedan on U.S. 80 just east of Interstate 95. The driver of the Corolla, a 22-year-old Bluffton, S.C., woman, does not face charges.
