Man falls out of pickup, suffers injuries on Kauai

A 24-year-old Lihue man was medevaced to the Queen's Medical Center Thursday night after sustaining head injuries in a traffic accident, according to Kauai police. The incident happened at about 11 p.m. on Kuhio Highway near the Fish Express in Lihue. Officials say the man was a passenger in a black Nissan pickup truck that was traveling north on Kuhio Highway. He then fell out of the truck. The man was taken to Wilcox Hospital by the driver of the truck, a 21-year-old woman. She did not sustain any injuries. The victim was transferred out of the intensive care unit Friday morning, as his condition has improved. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
