Maui police are investigating a pedestrian accident that left a 52-year-old Haiku woman with life-threatening injuries.
Maui police are investigating a pedestrian accident that left a 52-year-old Haiku woman with life-threatening injuries. Police say the accident occurred Monday at 7:32 p.m. on Kokomo Rd., just north of Nehe Pl. in Haiku. Police say a 2002 Lexus RX300 was traveling north on Kokomo Rd. when it hit the woman walking north-bound within the roadway, around a utility truck performing service in the area. The victim was taken to Maui Memorial Medical Center. Police say the 65-year-old driver and her juvenile male passenger were not injured. They were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash and the vehicle’s airbags did not deploy. Police say the involvement of speed and drugs and alcohol has not been determined as the investigation is still pending.
