Man and woman seriously injured after motorcycle rear-ends car on on Kuhio Highway near Anahola, Hawaii

Two people were taken to the hospital after a traffic crash Wednesday afternoon, according to Kauai police. The incident happened at about 2:40 p.m. on Kuhio Highway near the Hokualele Road junction in Anahola. Police say a motorcycle was heading south on the highway when it rear-ended a Nissan sedan traveling in front of it. The operator of the motorcycle, a 51-year-old man, and his passenger, a 41-year-old woman, were transported to Wilcox Hospital with serious injuries. According to police, the male and female occupants in the sedan were not injured. Police directed two-way traffic flow on Kuhio Highway from 2:40 p.m. until about 3:15 p.m. The highway was then closed in both directions shortly before 5 p.m. to allow officers to investigate the crash.
