Hilo man killed in car crash.

Big Island police believe speed and alcohol were factors in a crash that killed a Hilo man early Tuesday morning.

Police say 40-year-old Tracy Pack was driving on Kinoole Street in Hilo when his car veered off the road while trying to make a turn.

The car went through a chain-link fence and slammed into a building.

Pack was taken to the Hilo Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Police say Pack was not wearing a seat belt.

This is the second traffic fatality on the Big Island this year, compared with zero at this time last year.
