An early-morning crash took out two utility poles, a sign, and snapped a tree in half in Waimanalo.

An early-morning crash took out two utility poles, a sign, and snapped a tree in half in Waimanalo.

It happened at about 2:40 a.m. Thursday, right in front of Waimanalo Beach Park.

Both lanes of Kalanianaole Highway were closed for about three hours. Honolulu police were able to get the lines onto the side of the highway and reopened all lanes shortly before 6 a.m.

A popular open market that is held every Thursday at the beach park was cancelled by the city.

A witness said he saw a young woman emerge from the vehicle. He said she was escorted by police to a nearby ambulance.

Hawaiian Telcom crews arrived on the scene at about 7 a.m. and are working to put up new poles. The repair work caused crews to shutdown the makai side of the highway, contraflowing traffic through the area.

There were no power outages due to the crash.
