Inbound train No. 646, scheduled to arrive in Chicago at 3:23 p.m., was halted about 2:30 p.m. after striking the vehicle near Euclid Avenue near the Arlington Heights station, Metra spokeswoman Meg Reile said. A person was killed in the crash and pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. Additional details were not immediately available.

Deputy Police Chief Andy Whowell said Khan had been driving around the lowered train gates to make a turn when she was hit by the train. Police believe she was attempting to go west on Euclid from Northwest Highway.
