CHICAGO (CBS) — One person has been arrested after a crash that seriously injured five people Friday morning in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood. Police said two cars heading south on Cicero Avenue collided just before the intersection at Armitage Avenue around 2:15 a.m. The other car came to a stop about 100 feet north. Investigators were trying to determine what caused the crash, and police tape was still blocking Cicero north of Armitage and Armitage west of Cicero. One car hit a CTA bus shelter, and came to rest at a fire hydrant at the corner.

A 20-year-old man riding as a passenger in the Honda was taken in critical condition to Stroger Hospital, along with another man whose condition stabilized. (STMW) — A west suburban man has been charged with DUI after he was involved in a Belmont Cragin neighborhood crash early Friday that left six people hurt on the Northwest Side. A woman riding in the Toyota was taken to Stroger in serious condition. Rodriguez, the Honda’s driver, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition stabilized, police said. The driver and another passenger, both men, were taken to Mount Sinai, where their conditions stabilized, police said.
