About 1:12 a.m., a Mitsubishi was traveling eastbound in the 700 block of West 47th Street when it drove through a red light, swerved into the oncoming traffic and struck a Nissan Altima, causing a chain reaction crash, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago police spokeswoman.
The Nissan Altima then hit a Nissan Armada, which in turn struck a Honda Civic.

The driver of the Mitsubishi, 22-year-old Carlos Enrique Gonzalez, was pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital at 1:51 a.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
