Police said the 27-year-old man was riding a dirt bike, near Kimbark and Kenwood avenues around 7:30 p.m., when a Kia crashed into him and drove off.

Nelson, who lived in Chatham, was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said. An autopsy found he died of multiple injuries from the crash and ruled his death an accident.
