One killed and one injured in two car crash near Chicago.

One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash early Monday in southwest suburban Lemont.

A man driving a blue Toyota in the northbound lanes of Archer Avenue was passing other vehicles on the right shoulder about 6:20 a.m. when he lost control and ended up in the southbound lanes, where he was hit by a Dodge pickup, a Cook County Sheriff’s office spokesperson said.

The 48-year-old driver of the Toyota was pronounced dead on the scene. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office confirmed the man’s death, but his name was not being released Monday morning.

The driver of the pickup was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

No charges or citations have been issued as of Monday morning.

Cook County Sheriff’s police are investigating.
