A bicyclist was killed after a collision with a van in Roselle, northwest of Chicago, on Tuesday morning.

A bicyclist was killed after a collision with a van in Roselle, northwest of Chicago, on Tuesday morning.

The bicyclist's name was not publicly released as of 10:15 a.m., pending notification of family members, but Sgt. John Lawson said the man was born in 1966.

The incident happened on South Roselle Road just south of the Elgin O'Hare Expressway. Lawson said the driver of the van traveled eastbound on Rosemont Avenue before turning northbound onto South Roselle Road.

Roselle Road between East Devon and East Granville avenues was closed to traffic at about 6:45 a.m. so emergency crews could investigate and clean up.

Lawson said officials had determined the van's driver, a Roselle resident, was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol and was not in custody.
