Charges filed against driver in Franklin County wreck that left teenager dead : News

Charges have been filed against a 17-year-old driver police say failed to stop when road they were driving on ended, plowed through a residents' yard, hit a tree and crashed into a mobile home Saturday night near Benton before fleeing the scene with two other passengers while another teen was left dead in the truck. Franklin County Sheriff Donald Jones said speed and alcohol are believed to have caused the crash at 11:48 p.m. Snowden, the teen who died, played football for the Hamilton County High School Foxes and was in the Army National Guard. Alcohol was found at the scene of the crash, County Coroner Marty Leffler reported Sunday afternoon. The 17-year-old driver of the vehicle, whose name is not being released because he is a juvenile, was arrested on charges related to the fatal crash, and is being held at the Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center, Jones said.

He was accompanied by his attorney and several family members at a hearing in a Franklin County courtroom. Kelley is accused of driving a truck into a tree and a mobile home, then fleeing the scene along with two other teens. The Oct. 24 crash left 17-year-old Isaiah Snowden dead.
