Carbondale man arrested after crash
Carbondale police arrested a man after a crash investigation on November 18.
Humberto Barenca, 49, was arrested for leaving the scene of a personal injury traffic accident, no valid driver's license and disobeying a traffic control device.
Police say they responded to the crash around 1:58 a.m. at South University Avenue and West Main Street. Officers learned a vehicle driven by Barenca was going southbound on North University Avenue when he hit a vehicle going westbound through the intersection of West Main Street, causing the vehicle to crash into landscaping and trees at a business before hitting the building.
According to police, Barenca left the scene, but was later found and arrested.
The driver of the damaged vehicle, along with a passenger in Barenca's vehicle were taken to a Carbondale hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Barenca was taken to the Jackson County Jail. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
