Illinois State Police said 56-year-old Vanessa Ware of Mound City was stopped at Cambria Road when she tried to cross all four lanes headed to Marion.
She was hit by 41-year-old Kitty Tripplet-Jordan of Carterville, who was headed west toward Carbondale.
Ware and her passenger both had to be extracted from the car and were transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
