Avon woman dies after 3 vehicle crash.
An Avon woman died Sunday evening from injuries she suffered in a three-vehicle crash in Jasper County.
Preliminary information revealed at around 5:15 p.m. Sunday a Jeep driven by 28-year-old Ashley A. Rogers was driving southbound on Interstate 65 at the 225.5 mile marker when she lost control for unknown reasons.
Police say road conditions were snow covered and slippery at the time of the crash.
The driver of a 2003 Ford that was southbound came over the hill crest and saw the Jeep spinning in the roadway. The vehicle swerved to avoid the Jeep but was hit on the front side. The Ford came to rest on the inside shoulder. The driver of the Ford was not injured.
A semi heading southbound came over the hill crest, saw the Jeep in the right lane and could not avoid hitting it. The semi went off the interstate, down into a ditch and into a fence line approximately 50 feet from the road. That driver was not injured.
Rogers was found lying on the inside shoulder. Police aren’t sure if she had been ejected or hit while she was outside of her Jeep.
She was taken to Jasper County Hospital in Rensselaer and was being transported to a Lafayette hospital when complications arose. She was rushed back to Jasper County where she died at the hospital.
