Driver killed after car hits semi head-on on Indiana 44 near Old Franklin Road in Shelbyville, Indiana

A head-on crash involving a semi and another vehicle killed one person in Shelby County this afternoon. The crash occurred around 3:50 p.m. on Ind. 44, near Old Franklin Road. Authorities suspect that the passenger vehicle and semi were traveling in opposite directions, when the driver of the passenger vehicle heading west drove into the direction of the eastbound semi. The passenger vehicle’s driver, who has not been identified, was killed. The semi driver was not injured. Authorities are investigating why the driver of the passenger vehicle drove into the direction of the semi, but say weather was not a factor.
