Semi Hits SUV On HWY 61 Near Blue Grass, Iowa, 4-Year-Old Airlifted

The child was transported to the University of Iowa Hospital by Medforce helicopter for surgery.  Her condition is unknown.  The names of the victims are being withheld.
 A child, aged 4, was taken to the hospital by helicoptor Tuesday following a car crash on Highway 61 in Scott County, Iowa. The incident occured on October 21 around 8:08 a.m. when the driver of the Jeep, in which the girl rode, slowed down to turn right onto Coon Hunters Road. A semi truck, driven by Charles Yeoman, of Ollie, Iowa, collided with the rear of the Jeep and sent it into a ditch where steel posts marked a natural gas valve. The child was injured when a steel bar pierced the Jeep's window. The child was riding in a safety seat at the time of the accident. She was taken to the University of Iowa Hospital. The condition of the Jeep's driver is unkonwn. Yeoman was cited for the crash.
