Matthew Blackford, 21, dies, after he becomes unresponsive after his jeep is stuck in a pool of water near Southwest 45th Street and Evergreen in Des Moines.

A Des Moines man is dead after his Jeep got stuck in a pool of water while off-roading Sunday night. It happened around 8:00 p.m. south of the Des Moines River near Southeast 45th Street and Evergreen. Police say 21-year-old Matthew Blackford got his Jeep stuck in a pool of water while off-roading with friends and when he tried to get out he fell in and became unresponsive. His friends got him out of the water and started CPR. Paramedics took Blackford to the hospital where he later died. Police took his three friends to the station for questioning.
