46-year-old man killed in Des Moines traffic crash

Police say a man was killed and a woman was injured after their vehicles crashed in Des Moines. Investigators from the Des Moines Police Traffic unit were conducting a technical investigation of the crash. Investigators say 46-year-old Thomas Heckinger of Des Moines and 48-year-old Teresa Sagastume were taken to the hospital after authorities arrived shortly after 9 a.m. Police blocked the intersection of Sixth Avenue and Hickman Road while they investigated the crash.
