Man Killed in Pottwattamie Co. Crash Identified

The Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office says shortly after 7:30 a.m. on Highway 83, the driver appeared slumped toward his door as he approached the DOT workers installing a construction zone sign.
A road construction crew in western Iowa had a near miss Tuesday morning when a driver crashed nearby. The Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office says shortly after 7:30 a.m. on Highway 83, the driver appeared slumped toward his door as he approached the DOT workers installing a construction zone sign. The driver left the roadway and ended up in a field where DOT workers offered aid. The driver, Garry Johnk, 60, of Atlantic, was taken to Myrtue Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. No one else was injured. The accident remains under investigation.
