One killed in Franklin County crash.
A 44-year-old Ottawa man was killed early Wednesday in a near head-on crash about two miles east of Pomona in Franklin County, authorities said.
The crash occurred about 6:35 a.m. in the 1300 block of K-68 highway.
According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, a Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling west on K-68 highway when it drifted into the eastbound lane and collided nearly head-on with an eastbound Ford F-150 pickup truck.
Troy Lewis, the driver of the Jeep, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Ford F-150, who wasn’t identified, was taken to a local hospital by Franklin County Emergency Medical Services for treatment.
The accident, which occurred near the intersection of K-68 highway and Georgia Road, is being investigated by the Franklin County Crash Team, which is composed of members of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and the Ottawa Police Department.
K-68 highway was closed in both directions while the accident was being investigated, but was reopened as of 1 p.m.
