Kansas girl, 8, dies when car she was driving crashes

Kansas Highway Patrol Master Trooper Adam Simon told The St. Joseph News Press that troopers and Doniphan County Sheriff’s deputies investigated the accident. He says the adult in the car had given the child permission to drive.

The patrol says a 56-year-old man in the car with the child sustained possible injuries in the crash. He says the child's grandfather in the car had given her permission to drive.  

8-year-old killed in crash when grandfather lets her drive

At least four times, he was caught driving on a restricted or revoked license over a 20-year period. He also faced traffic charges in Kansas in 2011 and pleaded guilty to driving with a revoked license. Over the ensuing years, Meers faced a slew of other traffic, DUI and drug charges. He also faced charges of driving with a suspended driver's license in Missouri. Cadence's mother had posted on Facebook that she would have never let her daughter drive on a gravel road.
