EC teen dies in crash
A 17-year-old resident of Elkhorn City died following a single-vehicle crash on Ky. 80 on May 16. According to a statement from the Kentucky State Police, Zena Newsome was driving a 2010 Jeep Wrangler in the Elkhorn City area around 8:30 a.m. when her vehicle struck an embankment causing it to overturn.

The initial investigation indicated Zena Newsome, 17, of Elkhorn City, was operating a 2010 Jeep Wrangler on Route 80, when she struck an embankment, causing the vehicle to overturn. Newsome was pronounced dead at scene by the Pike County Coroner’s Office.
