Authorities have released the conditions of two girls who were struck by a vehicle while riding a dirt bike near Alexandria.

Two children were airlifted from a crash scene near Alexandria on Thursday afternoon after the dirt bike they were riding on was struck by a Jeep.

It happened shortly before 3 p.m. Police said the girls on the bike came out of the entrance of A.J. Jolly Park, pulling out in front of the driver of the Jeep and were struck.
The girls, later identified as Elena Stang, and Julie Mueller, were flown to UC Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Deputies said both girl were unconscious when they were transported from the scene.
Neither was wearing a helmet and they both suffered head and leg injuries.
Authorities said no one in the Jeep was injured and the teenage driver will not be charged.
