Emily Snow, 16, killed and several injured in single vehicle crash on Scrubgrass Road on June 29.

Boyle County sheriffs deputies are investigating a fatal, one-car crash they say happened shortly after 11:00 p.m. Sunday.

The Boyle County Sheriff's Office says a driver lost control on a curve on Scrubgrass Road, left the roadway and hit a tree. One person was pronounced dead at the scene. Additionally, another passenger was flown to UK Hospital with life-threatening injuries, while three others were taken to a local hospital where they are expected to recover.

The Boyle County Coroner identifies the victim that died as Emily Snow, 16, of Junction City. The Boyle County Sheriff says the group was coming from the Forkland area. They were returning home after going swimming. The Sheriff says it appears Snow wasn't wearing a seat belt.

We spoke to Ronnie Maddox, a local man who drove up on the accident shortly after it happened. He described for us what he saw.

"There was two on the blacktop, and a couple in the vehicle. Evidently speeding on the curve here. You got to watch this curve, it's slick and it'll get you. I've seen many of them get you right here," Maddox said.

The Sheriff's Office report states speed and alcohol are likely factors.
