Louisville man sentenced to prison in hit-and-run death

Pearce pleaded guilty on Wednesday to manslaughter, wanton endangerment, driving under the influence and drug charges. He was sentenced to prison immediately after. 
A five-year-old boy died after Louisville Metro Police say a hit-and-run driver drove his minivan onto the sidewalk and struck the child as he rode his scooter in a yard. Authorities say the child was taken to Kosair Children's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police arrested a suspect, Edward Pearce, age 24, on Skyline Drive, near his home, a short time later. Pearce is charged with murder, DUI, fleeing and evading, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled substance.
