A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed against WHAS TV News, a sports reporter, a tow truck company and its driver in connection with the death of a woman who was hit when she fell in a downtown Louisville crosswalk in January.
Charges filed in fatal downtown hit-and-run
A sports reporter for WHAS 11, the ABC affiliate in Louisville, has been charged for leaving the scene of an accident that killed a woman in January. Reporter Jeff Woods faces a felony charge of failure to stop and render aid in connection to the crash.
Fontaine Jeffery, 58, was struck and killed by a vehicle at the intersection of Second and Jefferson Streets around 8:30 p.m. Friday. She was taken to University Hospital hospital where she was pronounced deceased. Jeffery was in the crosswalk at Second and Jefferson when she fell and was then hit by two vehicles. Authorities have spoken to both drivers of the vehicles that hit her.
